At the height of the Black Rio movement, thousands of young black men and women discover black power in the midst of parties, soul music, and blaxploitation films. On one of these nights, shy Carlos is surprised to find his ex-lover Toni with someone else. Haunted by the fresh emotional wounds, Carlos recalls the relationship (hidden from his religious parents and the conservative society) with his first and only partner. But the night is a child and the party has just begun - supernatural surprises await them both, and Carlos' body begins to change as his feelings materialize…

A tribute to blaxploitation, "HIS BODY" is a queer musical romantic-horror short film about two young black men who, faced with racism and homophobia, still need to learn how to love and to dance together.
It chronicles the meeting of Carlos & Toni, two ex-lovers on a night packed with soul music in the 1970s' Rio de Janeiro. As the night goes by, supernatural surprises await them both, and Carlos' body begins to change as his feelings materialize…
A mixture of groove with a queer supernatural love story, the film is born from the desire to pay tribute to Brazilian soul artists, a very important musical movement for black consciousness during the 1970s.
With references ranging from Gordon Parks' Shaft (1971) to Dario Argento's Suspiria (1977), the film blends the language of blaxploitation and horror to evoke the unique atmosphere of 1970s underground cinema.
